Welcome to the world of River Basin Management in Kosovo. Learn more about us! Explore!
This IS-MESP-RBA Project is a European Commission financed project, managed by ECLO (European Commission Liaison Office) and managed by the Consortium GFA consulting group - International Office for Water (IOW) and Brl ingenieurie.
The project team and its partners are working together to improve the management of water resources in Kosovo. Better protection of river ecology and groundwater is urgently needed in this country and so we are aiming to reinforce its institutions and the skills of Kosovo experts in this field. Details about our partners can be found by clicking on the links at the top of this page.
One of our main aims is to promote knowledge and dialogue on technical issues in the ‘Drini i Dardhe’ River Basin and this web site will help keep you informed about the project’s agenda and events to come.
The project is working with its Kosovo partners to prepare its accession to the European Union (EU). EU Directives in the field of water and flooding are used as a guide to set procedures and develop economic, legislative and other instruments. This website is still under
construction: currently you can download maps , posters
and see pictures and videos. A summary of the Project ‘s achievements is displayed in the ‘download’ section.
Our approach is to develop existing skills, and introduce and test new methodologies for Kosovo with pilot projects. These focus on groundwater, river ecology, sharing water and flooding risks. Have a look at gallery, you will find photos on our 4 projects.
We have introduced various computer tools for River Basin Management. These include WEAP models for planning purpose and GIS (Geographical Information System) for data presentation and map production. Visit the Kosova web portal at
http://siu.rks-gov.net:9000/portal or katinfo for more information. User manuals as well as methodological guidelines were also produced.
